William, Sarah and their children traveled from Selma, Alabama to Mississippi about 1889 where Lillie and Versa were born.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
In 1893 they moved to Polk County, Arkansas with the Hawks Wagon group. The trip took three months. The distance a little over 500 miles. One of the reasons they left Alabama and Mississippi was because all of the homestead land was gone, and malaria was prevalent in that region. Many people came to the Arkansas hills from different parts of the country to escape the mosquitoes and resulting malaria.

Grandma Mary Q. Reid, Gentry, Smith had written in her bible: W.A. Reid departed this life June 2, 1945 --
