Della Hightower was born September 22, 1879 in Webster Parish, Louisiana, daughter of William Merrill Hightower (1844-1925) and Caroline Jordan (1848-1915).

The 1880 Federal Census for 1st Ward, Louisiana (Webster Parish) shows Della Hightower, age 9 months, born in Louisiana; living with her father, W. M. Hightower, a farmer, age 36, born in Alabama; and her mother, Caroline, age 31, born in Alabama. Also living in the household were Della's older siblings: William T. Hightower, age 14; H. S. Hightower, age 11; Mary F. Hightower, age 6; and Ella Hightower, age 4; all born in Louisiana.

Della married Dr. Frank Jackson, who was born October 23, 1865 in Kentucky.

The 1910 Federal Census for Odell, Oklahoma (Marshall County) shows Della Jackman, age 30, born in Louisiana; and her husband, Frank Jackman, a general practice physician, age 45, born in Kentucky. Living with them were two sons: Joe B. Jackman, age 10; and Frank V. Jackman, age 6; both born in Oklahoma.

The 1920 Federal Census for Brown, Oklahoma (Bryan County) shows Della Jackman, age 40, born in Louisiana; and her husband, Frank Jackman, an allopathic doctor, age 55, born in Kentucky. Living with them were three children: Joe Jackman, age 20; Vernon Jackman, age 16; and Catherine Jackman, age 7; all born in Oklahoma. Also living in the household were two nieces: Cary Shannon, age 11; and Lola Shannon, age 8; both born in Oklahoma.

Frank died June 16, 1935 in Durant, Oklahoma (Bryan County) and was buried there in the Highland Cemetery. Della died September 30, 1972 in Durant and was buried in Highland Cemetery beside her husband.
