Loy was the sixth of seven children born to Emanuel Jerome Myers and Susan C. Fink. He was killed in France in 1919 while fighting in World War I. He died in a French hospital of mustard gas poisoning and was buried in the Suresnes American Cemetery, Suresnes, Paris, Ile-de-France, France. (See Find-a-Grave memorial 55953704).
