Edward was the fifth of six children born to Anna C. and Joshua Myers. On March 11, 1897 he married Ella M. Myers, the daughter of Sarah Ellen (Whitmeyer) and James H. Myers. Together they had eight children: Lula Gertrude, Treva M., Adal Hahn, Myron L., Galen F., Martin E., Ruth N., and Marie E.
