Sidney Fleming, III, a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 14, 2008, at Baton Rouge Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was the tenth child of Rosanna Patin Paul Fleming and the only child of Sidney Fleming Jr. Sidney was born Dec. 11, 1954, and entered into rest at age 53. Sidney was also a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served as a health inspector and veterinarian at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Miss.

Visitation at Wilson-Wooddale Funeral Home until service, conducted by Evangelist Gloria Ambeau. Interment in Port Hudson National Cemetery, Zachary.

Sidney is survived by two sons, Sidney J. Valyan and Gerard F. Lancaster; three daughters, Tonie Valyan, Christina Valyan and Alexis Valyan; 10 grandchildren; five brothers, Mark Anthony Paul, Oscar Marshall Paul, Willie Phillip Paul, Lawrence Ivory Paul and Edgar Patrick Paul; two sisters, Betty Rose Paul Earls and Marie Ann Paul; great-aunts, great-uncles and a host of family and friends.

Sidney was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Fabre; grandfathers, Joseph L. Patin Sr. and Sidney Fleming Sr.; parents, Sidney Jr. and Rosanna Fleming; and two brothers, John Henry Paul Jr. and Willard Donald Paul.

Sidney was an avid animal collector, sportsman and loved to fish and hunt.
