He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Preston Bacon, pioneer residents of Washington County and spent his entire life in the 13th District of the county. He was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church.
Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Laura Bacon: three sons, Earl and Eugene Bacon of Jonesboro, and Henry Bacon of Kingsport; two daughters, Mrs. A. L. Mitchell of Jonesboro, and Mrs. F. P. Painter of Fall Branch; 2 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
