Obituary:
St. Regis - Charles G. Bennett, who founded the C. G. Bennett Lumber Co. in St. Regis in the mid-1940's, died of natural causes Tuesday, April 23, at Mineral County Hospital. He was 85.

He was born Aug 5, 1905 in Middletown, New Jersey to Charles and Susanna Hartshorne Bennett. He was educated at Miss Cornell's School and at Lawrenceville School.

In 1936 he married Lisette Personius in Elmira, New York. In 1944 he moved to St. Regis, where he established the C. G. Bennett Lumber Company. Sold in 1963, the mill site is now the location of the St. Regis Community Park.

Mr. Bennett was a member of the Superior Masonic Lodge and a devoted member of the Missoula Humane Society. He served on the St. Regis school board and the Mineral County draft board. He found great joy in the outdoors; in particular, he enjoyed skiing, riding, hiking and cruising timber. He loved steam engines, and maintained a steamboat on Coeur d'Alene Lake for 20 years. He also enjoyed baseball and sponsored a semi-professional team in St. Regis for many years.

Services will be at 11 am Friday at the St. Regis Methodist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Livingston-Malletta & Geraghty Funeral Home.

Living people were intentionally left out - the full obituary can be found in the Missoulian newspaper (Missoula, MT) on 25 April 1991, Section B pg. 3, column 1.
