Ansel "Bay" and his brother Millard "Fil" Sims owned a livery barn in Manville, Wyoming in 1891.
On 1900 census Ansel said he was born Oct 1864 in Illinois. He was single, a sheep rancher and boarder on the Oscar Baughn farm. Then later when Oscar died, Ansel L. Sims married Oscar's wife.
Obituary: Ansel L Sims Dies At Home Ansel L. Sims, 85, retired farmer who has lived in Santa Cruz for 40 years, died today at his home, 540 Ocean View avenue, following a few days' illness. He was a native of Illinois. He is survived by four stepdaughters, Mrs. Dell Williams, Mrs. Joseph Riordan, and Mrs. Velma Parker, Santa Cruz; and Mrs. Mildred E. Dorman, San Jose; and two brothers, Lou Sims, Sunnyvale; and John Sims, South Dakota.
