William "Dewey" Ebey, a security guard with Pinkerton Security and a resident of St. Amant, died at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000, at University Hospital, New Orleans. He was 47 and a native of Baton Rouge. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

Survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Laura Marie Pepper, St. Amant, and Melissa and Russell LeMaire Jr., Prairieville; a son, Joshua David Ebey, St. Amant; two sisters, Carolyn Womack, Baton Rouge, and Diane Keith, Arkansas; and six grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents, Gustavus W. and Anna Mae Lawrence Ebey.
