William Floyd McDaniel, known by most people as, Floyd McDaniel.

He was born in Alabama, as were, several ancestors before him. His father died when he was five years old. After the death of his father, and the marriage of his mother and Floyd Brown, he later moved to Florida. Leaving behind his best friend/cousin Archie McDaniel.

He met and married Willodean Strickland and had a son, Timmy McDaniel. This was a very short marriage. Timmy stayed with his mom and was adopted by her next husband Wyley Waters. I will never understand this because daddy loved his children very much.

After the divorce he married our mother Betty Stanford. We left Florida around 1967 and moved to Coweta County, Georgia. My mothers sister, Chris and husband Harold Jones,
(whom had also met and married in Florida) had already moved to Georgia.

Daddy was a lucky man because his best friend in Florida is also the brother in law, Harold, mentioned above. Uncle Harold and cousin Archie (we call uncle) were very close with daddy and to this day will talk about him with tears in their eyes. We would visit with uncle Archie and aunt Bula when we could or they came to see us.

Daddy and mama had five children. Ronnie, Barbara, Linda, Billy and Tommy. Arriving in Georgia with three kids, and then almost ten years later, Billy and then Tommy joined the family. They did what they had to do to provide for us. Daddy worked at Ford Motor Company.

Daddy loved to go fishing, hunting, baseball games and races. While living in Florida we also went to the beach and had picnics quite often.

We always got with aunt Chris and her family and made homemade ice cream sitting out in their back yard. They turned that crank on many days, continually packing that ice cream maker with ice and salt.

On September 5th 1973 daddy was going to town. On the way there, a person did not stop at a stop sign and hit dads car. His injuries were to serious for the hospital in Newnan so they took him to Atlanta. Mama was with him in the ambulance on this ride, I am so thankful for that, because that would be their last moment together.I know that mama told me her last words to him was "I love yoo." He passed away before they could get him into the hospital.

Children from the ages of two to thirteen lost a man that loved them very much..

Tommy and Billy never got the gift of time to know and remember you daddy. We,the others, did not have enough time with you either. I miss that beautiful smile and the hugs filled with warmth. Always loved and missed.....
