OCEANA — Blanche Virginia Morgan-Cook, 85, of Oceana, WV, died Friday, June 25, 2010, at Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, WV, after a long illness.

She was born October 23, 1924, at Davy, WV.

She was a member of the Oceana First Church of God, and a lifelong resident of Oceana, WV.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Flonie Cook (1909-1988) whom she married on August 4, 1961 in Matheny, Wyoming County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Wyoming County, WV, 1961, Page 149, Application Date: July 27, 1961); and her parents, George Leander Morgan (1874-1957) and Arminta Caroline Belcher-Morgan (1885-1950); five sisters: Ada Morgan-Wall (1900-Deceased), Corby Morgan-Lester (1905-Deceased), Lenna Morgan-Cook (1909-1994), Ora Morgan-Stollings (1913-Deceased) and Bessie Morgan-Bailey (1920-1982); four brothers: Lawrence Morgan (1907-Deceased), Charles "Charlie" Morgan (1915-1992), Ula H. Morgan (1918-Deceased) and Elmer Morgan (1911-Deceased).

Surviving her are two sisters: Maudie Morgan-Pennington (B. 1922) of Axton, VA, and Daisy Morgan-Brown (B. 1928) of Vinton, VA; two sisters-in-law: Juanita Short Morgan-Cook (B. 1923) and Mildred Morgan; three stepchildren: Elmer Seaman "Buddy" Cook (B. 1935), Gloria Fern Cook-Anthony (B. 1936) and Janice Carol Cook-Walker (B. 1939); and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 28, 2010, at the Oceana First Church of God with Rev. William Wagner, Pastor of the First Church of God, Rural Retreat, VA, and Charles Childers, Associate Pastor of the First Church of God, Martinsville, VA, officiating. She will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV.
