(Taken from Dewey's Obituary - shortened) Dewey Holmquist, 55, veteran of two world wars and an active Mason, died Saturday in a local hospital. He had lived in Bakersfield for 29 years. Dewey moved to Bakersfield in 1924 to accept a position as field scout for the Standard Oil Co., following his graduation from Oregon State College. He served in both world wars, and rose to the rank of first lieutenant during the second world war when he was attached to the Army Quartermaster Corps. He was a member of the Scottish Rite, Libertas Lodge 466, Free and Accepted Order of Masons, High 12 Club & the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was active in junior baseball programs in Bakersfield.
