Melissa Brady was born November 18, 1841, near Brooklyn, Indiana, being at the time of her death, 84 years, three months and 26 days of age.
She was united in marriage to Ezra Woodard on September 16, 1858, near Brooklyn, Indiana. To this union were born eight children, G. M. of Mattoon, William of Jewett, Alfred of Golden Valley, North Dakota, Lon of Janesville, Mrs. Riley Johnson of Terre Haute, Indiana, Frank who passed away at the age of ten. Mrs. Minnie Baker and Mrs. J. R. Oakley of Toledo. Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Emil Hornaday of Cartersburg, Indiana, Mrs. Sarah Chapman and Mrs. Jennie Tracy of Janesville.
In 1867 they moved to a farm in Coles County where they resided until about 40 years ago when they moved to Toledo.
The deceased was a faithful wife and devoted mother. She united with the Christian Church in Indiana when quite young. She transferred from the Indiana Church to the Webster Church, and when the Christian Church in Toledo was built she transferred her membership to Toledo.
There she remained a true Christian so many times expressing the wish that her health might permit her to attend services at her church.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
