James Edward Alwine, 83, retired plasterer and mason, died today at his home on Ind. 15 near Fairlawn, after suffering a heart attack, believed to have been induced by the excessive heat, Wednesday afternoon.
Born in Elkhart township, Oct. 31, 1869, Mr. Alwine was a son on Mr. and Mrs. James Alwine. He married the former Lulu May Gilbert Dec 24, 1899, and she survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Clyde (Katharine)MacDonald, and a son, Phil, both of Goshen; three grandchildren and a brother, David Alwine of Muckley, Mich.
The body, now at the Culp Funeral home, may be viewed at the Alwine home from Friday norning until Saturday noon and at the New Paris Church of the Brethren Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m., the hour of the funeral at the church. The Rev. William Brubaker and the Rev. Eldon Evans will be in charge. Burial will be in the Baintertown cemetery.
