Born in Buchanan County, VA., April 15, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Jake Lowe and Arminda Lester Lowe. She was a member of Big Rock Freewill Baptist Church and was an avid gardener and flower enthusiast. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Arthur Lowe, July 18, 1997; two daughters, Betty Jo Lowe Mulkey and Cora Stiltner; two sons, Johnny Lowe and Douglas M. Lowe; five sisters and two brothers.
She is survived by three daughters, Shirley Mullins and husband Greg, of Grundy, Sue Elswick of Mouthcard, Ky and Polly Miller of Richlands; four sons, Garrett Lowe and Jimmy Lowe, both of Big Rock, Michael Lowe of Charlotte, NC and Paris Lowe and wife Mary of Defiance, OH.; 17 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, June 2nd at Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel with Elders Joe Jackson and Kennedy Jackson officiating. Burial followed in Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.
Active pallbearers were Renea (Nad) Childress, Wanda Mullins, Bonnie Stanley, Dr. J.P. Sutherland, Jr., and employees of Special Care Hospice.
