New Columbus Man Killed in Tractor Accident
An Owen landowner and businessman was killed Saturday afternoon in a tractor accident near his home.
The accident occurred shortly before 12:30 p.m. when Delmer Dexter Green, 73 of New Columbus, was heading down a steep embankment about 600 to 800 feet long, Sheriff Glen Waldrop said.
About 150 to 200 feet from the bottom, the tractor overturned, breaking off a back wheel and landing at the bottom in an upright position, Waldrop said.
Waldrop said the ground was frozen but had thawed on top making the hillside extremely slippery.
Green was pronounced dead at the scene by Owen Co. Coroner Lannis Garnett
