Joseph's first wife was Sarah Williams (1789 – 1845)
-Sarah was the daughter of John and Nancy [Crosby] Williams. She is buried in Concord Presbyterian Churchyard cemetery in Woodward, Fairfield County, S.C.
-Children of Joseph and Sarah were:
-John Williams Robinson (1808-1862) buried in Mississippi
-Thomas W. Robinson (1816 -1858) buried in Fairfield Co. S.C
-Nancy Crosby Robinson (1818 – 1895)– married Andrew Yongue, buried in Fairfield Co. S.C.
-William Robinson (1825 – 1859) buried in Chester, S.C.
-Alexander Robinson
-Margaret Robinson married James Bowen
-Mary(aka Polly) married Dave Weir

After Sarah's death in 1845, Joseph married Sarah D. "Sallie" Ferguson. Childen of Joseph and Sallie were:
- Winnie E Robinson (1848 – )
- Sarah J Robinson (1850 – )
- James G. Robinson (1852 – )

Joseph died in 1852. Sallie married Perry D. McCammon in 1854. Sallie's sister, Harriett, was Perry's 1st wife and died after birth of their last child in 1854. The Robinson children born to Sallie & Joseph were living with Perry & Sallie McCammon in 1860 & 1870, per U.S. Census.

Perry & Sallie moved to Navarro County, Texas. Children of Perry & Sallie married into the Gaston/Fluker families and Weir family and lived in & around Wilcox County Alabama, as well as Texas.

Joseph and Sarah [Williams] Robinson sold property in Fairfield County, S.C. in 1844 to Robert Brice. After Sarah died and after Joseph moved to Wilcox County, Joseph sold property to Dr. Walter Brice.
