David was a graduate of Auburn University, with a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering. After school, he worked for a time with the old Mexican Central Railroad as First Assistant Chief Engineer.
On December 1st 1909, David married his childhood sweetheart, Miss Eva Lyle, a talented young artist. They were married at the Lyle Plantation in Gastonburg. This union was blessed with three daughters:
Lucy Elizabeth (1911-2008)
May Murphy (1912-2009)
Eva Gaston (1917-1965)
David and Eva Wilkinson made their home in Montgomery; where David worked with the Alabama State Department of Engineers.
David Gaston Wilkinson was known for his brilliant mind, his sense of humor and his imagination. He departed this life on January 22nd 1952 at the age of 70. He was laid to rest at Gastonburg Cemetery.
