Alexander Y. Milne 84, of Andover, MA passed away peacefully May 8th in Andover.

He was the beloved husband of the late Mary Margaret (Gallahue) Milne. He was born in Fall River, MA and graduated from Johnson High School in North Andover.

Alex was a veteran of the 69th Infantry Division in WWII and received the Purple Heart for injuries incurred during battle. He also was awarded the Bronze Star for Meritorious Service.

Alex worked for many years at McCartney's Clothing Store in Andover and was a member and past president of the Andover Chamber of Commerce. He was the son of the late Andrew and Annie Milne. He is survived by his sons Alex of Franklin, wife Ann and children, Lauren and Patrick; son Robert of Westborough, wife Ellen and children Andrew, Katherine and Allison; son David of Groton, wife Karen and children John and Michelle; son Gary of Merrimac, wife Jenna and children Hallie, Emma and Anna. Alex was the brother of Margaret Provencher (Milne) of San Diego, CA and the late Donald Milne of North Andover, MA.

Calling hours will be held at Dewhirst and Conte at 28 Florence Street in Andover on Tuesday May 11th from 5-8 pm. Family and friends are welcome to a brief service at the funeral home Wednesday May 12th at 10:00 am followed by a burial at Spring Grove Cemetery in Andover. A celebration of Alex's life will be held after the service. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer donations to a charity of your choice.
