Bobby Joe Dukes was born June 22, 1952, to Jettie B. Dukes in Newton County, MS.

He joined Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Union, MS, at an early age. While there, he served as Sunday School Teacher and Sunday School Superintendent. Later, he joined Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Union, MS, where he served as Sunday School Teacher, Usher Board President, and Pastor's Aide Committee.

On Dec. 28, 2002, he married Mattie "Missy" Harrington. Three children, two sons and one daughter, were already a part of this union.

He died Sept. 28, 2009, at the age of 57.

He was the Husband of Mattie "Missy" Harrington Dukes; the Father of Malesha Clay, McCedric Harrington, and Colton Mapp; the Son of Jettie B. Dukes; and the Brother of Janice Dukes, Brenda Dukes Foster, Patricia Davis, Marilyn Hunter, Jimmy Dukes, and Melvin Dukes.
