Thomas S. W. (Tom) Thornhill was born December 18, 1908 to John M. Thornhill & Nancy P. C. Sweeden Thornhill in Alba, Rains, Texas, USA.

m2. Margarette Florence Nix

- ? Thornhill

Tom met and married Janie ? sometime between 1910 & 1920. A record of marriage was also found for a Tomie Thornhill and "Slitty Jones" in the Raines County online Marriage Index; however, it is not known if this is just a poor transcription of an illegible name, or if this is a separate marriage, or not. In this researcher's opinion, the name "Betty" may be what the original document said (only supposition on my part), and this is possibly Janie's first name (Betty Jane was a common name at the time).

My husband, John, remembers Tom & Janie coming to visit his family when he was very young. He remembers Janie being American Indian with very long, black hair.

I have not found any record of children of this / these union(s).

Tom passed away on August 7, 1963 in Dallas, Dallas, Texas, USA at Parkland Memorial Hospital of coronary insufficiency due to arterioscleratic heart disease after nine days of hospitalization. It was also noted he suffered from Hypertension: Polycystic Kidney and Liver Disease. He was only 54 years old at the time of his passing.

The informant on his death certificate was listed as Mrs. W. L. Wood - Sister, who was his sister, Dora Isabel Thornhill Goins Wood Smith - my Great Aunt.

Tom's residence, at the time of his death, was listed as: General Delivery, Hutchins, Dallas, Texas, and he was also listed as Married.

Tom was laid to rest with several family members in the Simpkins Cemetery - Alba, Rains, Texas, USA.

Rest In Peace, Uncle Tom.
