Keith Charles BAKER, 81, of Grand River, Iowa, the son of Sherman William and Gerna Vivian (BOLES) BAKER, was born August 24, 1922, at Grand River, Iowa. He died on Monday, October 6, 2003 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.

Keith grew up and lived most all of his life in the Grand River and surrounding area. He graduated from Grand River High School in 1940. Then he went to California. On December 29, 1942 he joined the U. S. Navy. He served in Norman, Oklahoma until his discharge on March 16, 1946.

On May 5, 1946, he married Gertrude Margaret MAHAN in Mount Ayr, Iowa. Three children blessed this union, Monte, Deanna, and Barry. The family lived on the farm near Grand River except in 1859 and 1960 when they lived in the town of Grand River while Keith worked at Rath Packing Compaay.

Keith loved to hunt and fish. He and Gertrude camped at the Iowa State Fair every summer. They also attended his Navy reunions in Oklahoma every two years. He was a member of the Veterans Affairs Commission, American Legion, Grand River Lions, and the Decatur County Conservation Board. Keith served 14 years on the Clarke Electric Board.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife Gertrude on March 9, 2001; and brother Eugene BAKER.

Survivors include his children: Monte BAKER and wife Mary Jo of Creston, Iowa; Deanna RENSHAW and husband Vern of Minburn, Iowa; and Barry BAKER of Grand River; nine grandchildren: Brandon and Carolyn RENSHAW; Jamie and Courtney RENSHAW; Bret RENSHAW; Kelly RENSHAW; Toshia SEE; Tonya & Dusty GONSETH; Clint BROWN, Travis EGGMAN, and Jordan EGGMAN; newborn great-granddaughter Hannah RENSHAW; sister Pauline ANDREW and husband Griffin of Grand River; sisters-in-law Mary BAKER of Mount Ayr; Bettye COATES and husband Jack of Allen, Texas; and Dorothy CASKEY and husband Wendell of Hallsville, Missouri; brother-in-law Jim MAHAN and wife Marilyn of Leon; and other relatives; and many friends.

Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery near Grand River, Decatur County, Iowa.
