Chester Herald, unknown date

Kenneth Cruse, Hillsboro, Oregon, passed away Friday, January 8, 1993 at his home. He had been ill for several months. Burial services were Tuesday morning with burial in the Willamette National Cemetery near Portland, OR.

He is survived by his wife Alice; mother Cecile; two daughters, four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Ken spent most of his childhood years growing up in Chester, a small town which he could not forget. Since his retirement several years ago, he and Alice made an annual trip to Chester. He and his family were interested in the Chester alumni scholarship fund, and have generously contributed to it.

During WWII he served in the Navy and was one of the survivors of the sinking of the USS Astoria.

Many people in Chester will remember Ken's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harley Cruse who had the bakery and cafe in Chester during the 1920's and early 30's.
