TABLE ROCK ARGUS, Thursday, October 5, 1928.(pg.1)

A Sudden Call.

Monday morning, when Miss Callie Barrett came down stairs a little before 6 o'clock, she found her father, A. J. Barrett, lying on the floor in a semi-conscious condition. She hurriedly summoned the rest of the family, a physician was called, and it developed that Mr. Barrett had suffered a paralytic stroke. He had gotten up a little before 5 o'clock and had started to make a fire in the cook stove when he was stricken. So quietly had it been that the other members had not heard him, and just how long he had lain before found by his daughter is not known. Everything possible was done to relieve Mr. Barrett, but he lapsed into unconsciousness from which he did not recover until his death, which occurred at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The out-of-town children and his brother, Earl, were summoned: Frank in Oklahoma, Fred at Republican City, and Bert and Arthur at Lincoln, all of whom are here. Mr. Barrett has lived in Table Rock for many years, coming here from Illinois. He was twice married and leaves four children from his first marriage, and two sons, Albert and Arthur, by the second. Just four months before his death, his wife passed away, leaving the home without a mother's love and care, and now the father is suddenly taken away. Funeral services will be held at the Christian Church at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, Rev. E. M. Pardee.
