Death Notice
Mr. Roger Kent Haynie, 67, of Kenova, WV, died Wednesday, December 29, 1999, at the VA Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 2, 2000, at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova, WV, with Rev. Herbert Varney and Dr. Manfred Langer officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. Mr. Haynie was born May 5, 1932, in Huntington, WV, a son of the late Jennings and Thelma Perdue Haynie. He was retired from Stowasser Contracting where he was employed as a painter. He was an active member of the Cyrus Baptist Church. Mr. Haynie was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict and a member of American Legion Post #93, Kenova, whose members will conduct graveside rites. He was also a member of the Huntington DAV. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Leo David Haynie. He is survived by his wife, Betty Thacker Haynie; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Roger "Kenny" and Sherry Haynie of Barboursville, WV, and Bryan "Bucky" Haynie of Kenova, WV; three grandchildren, B. J., Wesley and Allyson Haynie; seven sisters and two brothers-in-law, Grace and Clyde Ferguson of Oak Hill, OH, Geraldine Meadows, Millie Keeney, Diana Hensley, Charlene Haynie, Karen Sizemore, and Barbara and Wilson Collins, all of Huntington, WV. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, January 1, 2000, at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova, WV.
