He was a US Army Air Corps veteran of World War II who served in India. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Ridgeland, SC.
He is survived by one son, Edward W. (Marsha) Horton, Jr. of Anderson, SC; one daughter, Kathy H. (John) Salter of Charleston, SC; one brother, Frank S. Horton of Ridgeland, SC; and four grandchildren, Edward W. Horton III, Samantha E. Horton, Kennedy E. Dodd, and Meryl D. O'Donald.
He was predeceased by his wife, Jackie Bennett Horton; brothers, Haskel Horton and Willard C. Horton; and sisters, Kathleen H. Brown and Clyde H. Fickling.
