Edward William Horton, Sr., 85, died September 14, 2007 in the Richard Campbell Veterans Nursing Home, Anderson, SC.

He was born in Ridgeland, SC on March 17, 1922. He was the son of the late S.S. and Sarah Ulmer Horton. He was a retired automobile mechanic with Utilities Construction Company of Charleston, SC. He was a US Army Air Corps veteran of World War II who served in India. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Ridgeland, SC.

He is survived by one son, Edward W. (Marsha) Horton, Jr. of Anderson, SC; one daughter, Kathy H. (John) Salter of Charleston, SC; one brother, Frank S. Horton of Ridgeland, SC; and four grandchildren, Edward W. Horton III, Samantha E. Horton, Kennedy E. Dodd, and Meryl D. O'Donald.

He was predeceased by his wife, Jackie Bennett Horton; brothers, Haskel Horton and Willard C. Horton; and sisters, Kathleen H. Brown and Clyde H. Fickling.
