She was a longtime resident of the Maplewood Park Place senior living community in Bethesda, MD, and the widow of Horace A. Groves. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Howard "Buddy" Linton.

Survivors include children, Timothy W. (Betsy) Groves, Elaine Louise Groves (Leo F.) Schneider, & Martha G. (John D.) Leonard; grandchildren, Luke (Lori), Ellen (Michael), Thomas (Elizabeth), Patrick, Jean, & Rebecca; great-grandchildren, Jalen & Justin.

Interment followed funeral services conducted at the St. Monica and St. James Episcopal Church, Washington, D.C., Friday, January 16, 2009.
