HICKORY FLAT – Marie Goolsby Mills, 77, died Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at her home after an extended illness. She was born Nov. 11, 1932, in Benton County to William Jessie and Era Bradford Goolsby. She was a 1950 graduate of Hickory Flat High School. She attended Blue Mountain College and earned a B.S. degree in elementary education. She retired from the Benton County School District after teaching a number of years. She was a member of Ebenezer Methodist Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at United Funeral Service Chapel in New Albany with Rev. Bud McCraw officiating. Burial will be in McKay Cemetery in Hickory Flat.
Survivors include her husband, Hugh Talmadge Mills; two daughters, Kathy Marie Davis (Gayle) of Tupelo and Rose Ann Jones (Terry) of Hickory Flat; two sons, Hugh David Mills (Darlene) of New Albany and Ronnie Mills (Theresa) of Hickory Flat; one brother, Larry Goolsby (Judy) of Hickory Flat; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Michael Davis, Hugh Davis, Devin Mills, Dylan Mills, Logan Mills, Carlton Rowland and Barry Goolsby.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
