John Charles Carr was the youngest son of W. Frederick Carr and Sallie Isabella Castleberry. After his father's death in 1906, his mother remarried. During the 1910 Census, John and his siblings were living with their grandparents Rev. Robert M. Carr and Isabella Mahala Barnett Castleberry Carr.


John served in the military during WWI. His life has been difficult to track after WWI was over. He was living in Houston at the time he filled out his WWI Registration Card. In 1943, he married Leona Villa. By the 1950 Census, the couple was living in Harris County, Texas, with their four children. John was working as a house painter.


JOHN CHARLES CARR, 60, of 4921 Hoover St. died Monday. Survivors: Wife, Mrs. Leona Carr; daughter, Miss Annie L. Carr; sons, Larry L., David C., Robert C., and Richard C. Carr; sister, Mrs. Helen Barin, all of Houston. Interment Allington Cemetery, Bellville.
