In every department of domestic life he conducted himself with a propriety equaled by few surpassed by none. As a Christian and a patriot, his character was exceptionable. In short, he was an officer of the Revolution and an honest man. He expired proclaiming a conscience void of offence in the 65th of his age. Beside him are laid his infant children Julia and Alban" Capt John Reid was a senator from Lincoln County in 1810 and 1811 and again in 1817 and 1818. He was also proprietor of the Catawba Springs Hotel and Spa, located near the bridge on Kidville Road across form the present 2019 Verdict RIdge Development.
