Obituary on page B5 from unknown paper found in a scrapbook kept by A. R. Pendergraft. (Handwritten above page number: April 11, Sunday 1993)


In the obituary it states that J. D. Crum had been living in Camp Verde, Arizona and that he was a former resident of Gresham, Oregon. His funeral was held at the Bateman Carroll Funeral Chapel in Gresham followed by a private Interment in Willamette National Cemetery.


He died from heart issues in a Cottonwood, Arizona hospital and his age was 59.


He was born May 29, 1933, in Ketchia, Texas and was raised and attended school in Texas. He moved to Gresham as a young man working as a hydraulic mechanic and welder for the Elder Equipment Co. He retired in 1983 because of disability.


"A lead guitarist, Mr. Crum played and sang with the country and Western band, J.D. Crum and the Midnight Ramblers in several East Multnomah County cities for 23 years. He moved to Arizona in 1988."


Survivors: daughters Theresa Ranger of Portland. Brenda and Dianna of Troutdale, and Sandra Roberts of Gresham; mother, Johnnie Crum of Boring; brothers Girley of Boring and Albert of Phoenix, Ariz.; nine unnamed grandchildren.


A scholarship fund in the name of J.D. Crum was suggest to those who wished to contribute. Funds could be sent to the American Federal Musician's Local 99 located at 325 N.E. 20th Ave., Portland 97232.
