Mrs. Birdie Wynn Wallace
Mrs. Birdie Wynn Wallace, 80, died Monday, Feb. 17 at 11 pm at Trigg County Hospital, where she was admitted Sunday. She had been ill the past two weeks.
A native of Lyon County, Mrs. Wallace was born April 3, 1894, daughter of the late Green and Ada Sills Wynn. She was married to Preston Wallace in 1914. He preceded her in death December 9, 1946.
She was a member of Cadiz Baptist Church and was an employee at Trigg County School Cafeteria for 17 years before her retirement eleven years ago.
Graveside services will be held Friday, February 21 at 2 pm at East End Cemetery with Rev. Bill Belva officiating.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Woodrow Hammond, Colonial Heights, VA, and Miss Nellie Wallace of the home,; two sons, Samuel Wallace, Cynthiana, and Lacy Wallace, Richlands, VA; one sister , Mrs. Arlon Leneave, Cadiz; and one brother, Willie Wynn of Lyon County.
Pallbearers will be Earl Wynn, Arnold Wynn, J.B. Hyde, Orbie Leneave, Woody Hammond, Jr. and Sam Hammond.
Friends may call at Goodwin Funeral Home after 6 pm Thursday.
Birdie is shown as Bertie on many internet web sites and online family trees. It is also on some documents that way. However, her name was Birdie. Her father had a sister named Birdie. Her middle name, Viola, is the same as her mother's middle name. Thus Birdie was probably named after her aunt and her mother.
