He was the spouse of Susie Canups.

Mr. Demastus

James Edward Demastus, 79, Mt. Hope, Ala., died Friday night at North Alabama Hospital.

Services will be conducted today at 2 p.m. from Mt. Hope Church of Christ by Raymond Bush. Burial will be in Rock Springs, Cemetery, Mt. Hope. Highsmith Funeral Home of Russellville directing.

He was a native of Lawrence County and a member of the Church of Christ.

Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Susie Demastus, Mt. Hope; six daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Taylor, Mrs. Irene Taylor, both of Mt. Hope; Mrs. Lillian Suggs, Danville; Mrs. Magalean Scott, Russellville; Mrs. Kathleen Hardin, Birmingham; Mrs. Clara Jean King, Conyers, Ga., three sons, J.D., Mt. Hope, Troy, Decatur, Daniel, Russellville, Rt. 4, 21 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Carrie Nolen, Russellville.
