Sad Death Of Earl Hudson
One of the saddest deaths which it has been our duty to chronicle for sometime is that of Joseph Earl Hudson, the 13 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Hudson, which occurred about 3 p.m. on last Sunday, October 9. Earl and his father had started on horseback to Wilmore with a bunch of cattle for shipment. When near the Downing farm and while Earl was alone in charge of the cattle (Mr. Hudson having gone some distance to Henry Goss' place) it seems that some of the cattle broke through a wire fence into a field and that while Earl was making an effort to get his horse over the wire fence to drive the cattle out of the field one of the horse's feet became entangled in the wire and caused the animal to fall. When discovered, not long afterward, by Marvin Downing, Earl was lying under the horse and had several bruises about the body. Life was apparently extinct when the body was found. Medical attendance was summoned, but when the doctor arrived he expressed the opinion that death had occurred an hour or so before.

At the time of his death Earl was 13 years, 3 months and 6 days of age. He was a dutiful child, the only son and in him the parents had built the fondest hopes. He united with the Christian church in April 1909. His premature death has elicited the profoundest sympathy of the entire community. The funeral services, which were conducted at the Christian church in this city on Monday afternoon by the pastor, Rev. E. W. Schenk, were attended by a large number of neighbors and friends, and were very impressive. Interment was made in the Coldwater cemetery.

Cards Of Thanks - To our friends who so kindly gave us assistance and who have given us words of sympathy and consolation in our recent bereavement, we extend our heartfelt thanks.
Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Hudson and Mr. and Mrs J. H. Hudson.
