A gentle and generous woman, "Dot" Face was well loved by generations of her family and friends.

A volunteer for 24 years at the U.S. Public Health Service Hospital in Norfolk, this loyal "Gray Lady" of the Red Cross was a fixture on Fridays, visiting and aiding the ill and injured men.

Raised by extraordinary parents (J. Fred and Mary Lowe Muhlig), Dot was the valedictorian of her high school class.

Dot Face was devoted to her family and friends. She was always there, without complaint, to help them through life's most difficult challenges. She was also there with a small present or a fresh pie to make everyday life so much more worth living.

She was a member of the Larchmont United Methodist Church (Norfolk) and the Larchmont Methodist Women.

She was a charter member and frequent officer of the Borough of Norfolk Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of nearly 50 years, Samuel Allen Face, Sr., two daughters-in-law, Onley McVay Face and Janine Elisabeth Robinson Face, her brother, Lawrence Muhlig and her parents.

She was survived by her two sons, Samuel Allen Face, Jr. and Robert Lowe Face, her brother, Robert Muhlig, four grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
