Born Feb. 5, 1914, in Webster County, Mo., to George and Margaret Young Cantrell, he married Loris Thomas on Sept. 26, 1942, in Springfield, Mo. She survives.
Also surviving are two brothers, Leland (and Donna) and Ernest, both of Marshfield, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Jerry; one brother; and one sister.
He received a bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri.
He worked as a janitor at Beverly Manor Grade School for nine years and as an attendant at Don's Marathon for 10 years, retiring in 1978.
He was a member of Farmington Sportsman's Club and Izaak Walton Sportsman's Club in Spring Bay.
Burial will be in Fon Du Lac Cemetery in East Peoria.
