He was born Sept. 3, 1911, in Champaign,Illinois, the son of Clem and Celia Hunt Chance. He was a member of the K of P Lodge and had worked at the Indiana soldiers and Sailors Childrens Home from1960 to 1968. He had owned and operated Chance's Grocery from 1945 to 1981.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Lillie Bell Chance: a son, James of Knightstown: a Daughter,Mrs. Mary Lou Dunaway of R.1 Knightstown: three grandchildren: a brother, Alvin Chance of Rushville: three sisters, Mrs. Edith Doll of Dublin, Mrs. Ethel Leighton of Alvin Texas, and Mrs.Nora Minyard of New Castle: several neices and nephews.
Services will be at 2 P.M. Monday at Butcher Funeral Home . Burial will be in Glen Cove Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
