David Del Farris, 80, of Winchester, husband of Rebecca Powell Farris, passed away Saturday, May 22, at his home. Born May 3, 1930 in Winchester to the late J. Fred and Nancy Lisle Farris, he was a member of the First Christian Church, Winchester. He was a life-long farmer and former lumber and timber buyer.

David was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Andrew Farris and Steven Farris; and his son, James Albert Farris.

Survivors include two daughters Nancy (Ricky) Farris Wills, Betsy (Endre) Farris Fink; six grandchildren, Emily (Jesse) Wills Smith, Cole Wills, Jaclyn Farris, Jayme Farris, Stefan Fink and Allison Fink and one great-grandson; all in Winchester. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Marguerite Powell Shearer, two nieces Elaine (Bobby) Farris Mastin, Lynn Shearer Williams; and three nephews, Joe (Barbara) Farris, Fred (Mary) Farris, and Vernon (Karen) Shearer and several great-nieces, nephews and cousins.

At the time of his death he was an active in the Clark County High School Class of 1948, Clark County Pioneer Amateur Radio Club and Clark County Fish and Game Club. He enjoyed many years of service as a former member and past President of the Kentucky Walking Horse Association, two term member of the Clark County Board of Education, Clark County Fair Board, Clark County Saddle Club, Clark County 4-H Council, 4-H Horse and Pony Club, Bluegrass State Games Committee, participated in FFA member for 65 years, and founded the Clark County Goat Producers Club. Recently, he was recognized by the Clark County 4-H for 70 years of membership and service.

Pallbearers will be Fred Farris, Joe Farris, Roy Turley, Vernon Shearer, Tom Galbreath, Ricky Wills, Endre Fink, Cole Wills, Jesse Smith and Stefan Fink. Honorary pallbearers include Eddie Crews, Robert David Hammet, Fred Pace, Clark County High School Class of 1948, JoEllen Reed, Elaine Farris Mastin, Lynn Shearer Williams, Marguerite Shearer, Betty Smith, Frank Vermillion, Clark County Pioneer Amateur Radio Club members, Asa Witt, and Orville Bennett.

Services will be conducted at 10:30 am, Wednesday, May 26, at the Scobee Funeral Home by Dr. Ed Mesta followed by burial in Clarmont Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 5-7pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
