Mrs. Fannie Lakes, 89, died Saturday, May 13, 1995 at the Haggin Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Jackson County, the daughter of the late Wiley and Debbie Lakes Smith. She was a homemaker, a member of the Buena Vista Baptist Church and the widow of Cordell Lakes. Survivors include two daughters, Faye Tapp and Vivian Tapp, both of Lancaster; seven grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Charles and Edward Abrams, and nine brothers and sisters; Lewis Smith, Willie Smith, Jessie Smith, Johnnie Smith, Merdia Smith, Susie Cruse, Dovie Humphrey, Mattie Smith and Lucy Smith. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, May 15, at the Lakes Funeral Home in Berea with the Rev. Larry Harris officiating. Burial was in Lakes Cemetery at Sand Gap.
