Leontena Bitterman
Leontena (Mrs. Ed) Bitterman, 84, Huron, and formerly of Miller, died Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 3, 1986, at the Huron Nursing Home.
Leontena T. Bentz was born December 7, 1901 at Scotland to Mr. and Mrs. Peter (Pauline Hirsch) Bentz.
She married Ed Bitterman October 29, 1922 at Delmont. They made their home in the Delmont community until 1925 when they moved to Hand County.
In 1947 they moved to Miller. In 1983 they retired and moved to Huron.
She is survived by her husband of Huron; one son and daughter-in-law, Malvin and Doris Bitterman of Huron; one daughter and son-in-law, Verbena and Harold Kaufman of Huron; eight grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, three brothers, Emil Bentz of Huron, Alfred Bentz of Lodi, CA and Paul Bentz of Overland Park, KS.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Adela Bentz and one brother, David Bentz.
The funeral was 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Miller, with the Rev. Fred Rosin officiating. Burial was in the GAR Cemetery, Miller.
