She was in her late teens when her parents made the move westward over the Wilderness Trail which led through Kentucky across the Falls of the Ohio River, through Indiana and Illinois, to central Missouri. Rosean's parents took up land in Howard County, Missouri, in a section that later became Moniteau County.
