Ruth C. Sterner

JEFFERSON - Ruth C. (Zartman) Sterner, 93, died at 1:40 p.m. on Monday June 21, 2010, at Hanover Hall in Hanover. She was the beloved wife of Henry W. Sterner, who passed away in 1984.
A funeral service in celebration and thanksgiving for her life will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at Irwin-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service PC, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove, with her pastor Rev. Barbara Brenneman officiating. She will be laid to rest following the service next to her husband in Jefferson cemetery. A viewing will be held on Friday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
Ruth was born in Codorus Township on June 27, 1916, and was the daughter of the late Daniel W. Zartman and Myrtle (Bubb) Zartman.
She worked as a Machine operator for Double Day Publishing and was a life member of the Jefferson Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a longtime member of Christ United Church of Christ in Jefferson.
Ruth is survived by her nieces, Judith Zartman, Louise Fry, and Dorcas Brenneman.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Helena Fair and Ruby Baumgardner; and her nephews, Dale Zartman and Francis Baumgardner.
