Prominent Farmer Dies


Dewey Anderson, 64, a prominent Wilbarger County farmer died at 3 a.m. Sunday in a Wichita Falls hospital.

Funeral services will be held at the Henderson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Calvin Nevels, pastor of the Calvary Church officiating. Burial will be in Wilbarger Memorial Park under direction of Henderson Funeral Home.

Mr. Anderson was born Jan. 16, 1901 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Gus Anderson and was a lifelong resident of Wilbarger County. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Mr. Anderson owned land south of Vernon, where he made his home and in the Farmers Valley Community.

He married Willie Stephenson Feb. 12, 1939. Mr. Anderson preceded her in death.

Survivors include, a son, Charles Anderson of Vernon; a daughter, Mrs. Karen White of Vernon; three sisters, Mrs. W. M. Judd and Mrs. Annie Taylor, both of Vernon and Mrs. Mamie Magness of Edinburg; five grandchildren, Charles Anderson, Shelly Anderson, Deborah White, Michael White and Delinda White, all of Vernon.

Pall bearers will be Paul Taylor, William Anderson, Herbert Anderson, Bud Judd, Jimmie Southall and Clinton Judd.
