Visitation will be Tuesday at Hixson Brothers, Alexandria from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until shortly before service time.
A Rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at Hixson Brothers, Alexandria.
Mrs. Golmon, 88, of Alexandria passed away Monday, November 09, 2009 at Naomi Heights Nursing Home.
She was a lifetime resident of Alexandria and a second generation member of St. Francis Xavier Cathedral. Mrs. Golmon worked at Blackman's Laundry and Rush's Fabicare for over 30 years. She was a woman of strength, determination and boundless energy, caring for others, capable of preparing a meal for twenty-five or directing her large extended family in any number of activities.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Golmon; brothers, Sylvester Vicknair, Normand Vicknair, Otis Joseph Vicknair, Edward Vicknair and Jimmy Vicknair; sister, Mable Aldret.
Mrs. Golmon is survived by one sister, Enez Aldret; sons, Les Golmon and his wife, Judy of Alexandria, Richard Golmon and wife, Cindy of Alexandria; one daughter, Mary Jo Sweeden and husband, Ferrell of Arlington, Texas. She had 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren. Her loving care giver at Naomi Heights was Sharonette Armstrong.
Pallbearers will be Timmy Urena, Troy Sanders, Gary Moore, Jr., Dennis Paul Vicknair, Craig Sweeden, and Danny Jackson. Honorary pallbearers include Roy Aldret, David Vicknair, Dan Hicks, Bruce Hirsch, Jim Westegard, Phillip Mayeaux, Taylor Golmon, Gary Moore, Sr., Steven Golmon, and Michael Williams.
