THE VILLAGES — Dr. Larry Robert Clarke, 64, died Friday, June 18, 2010.

Mr. Clarke was born in Pensacola. He was a professor of English, teaching at Miami-Dade College, the University of Miami, the Episcopal School of Acadiana, Grandview Preparatory School; wrote a book on "Macbeth"; was a devout Orthodox Christian; an Army veteran of the Vietnam War; helped manage The Bible Center Bookstore in Miami; an enthusiastic traveler; and Scottish country dancer.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret; sons Max Clarke, Brooklyn, N.Y., John Clarke, Hallandale Beach, Joseph Clarke, New Haven, Conn.; stepsons Stanley Waite, California, Robert Waite, Tampa; stepdaughter, Deborah Kaus, California; one granddaughter; and many step-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 23, at St. Raphael Brooklyn Orthodox Church in Inverness with the Rev. David Balmer officiating. Burial will follow in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. The Panikhida service will be held at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Raphael Brooklyn Orthodox Church, 1277 N. Paul Drive, Inverness, FL 34450 or Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.

Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, is in charge of arrangements.
