Leader of the Chartist movement, the first organised working class political party in Britain. He organized three great petitions to Parliament, the second claiming over 3 million signatures. MP for Nottingham 1847. Declared insane in 1852. 50,000 people followed his funeral procession - the last Chartist demonstration.
