James, who resided at 2205 Carter Street, Wilmington, Delaware served as a Staff Sergeant and radio-gunner on a bomber with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

He enlisted in the Army on July 23, 1942 in Camden, New Jersey. He was noted as being employed as a Foremen and also as being Separated, without dependents.

He was "Killed In Action" at Nonomea when his bomber crashed due to battle damage after returning from a mission in the Pacific during the war.

He had served in the Air Corps for one year and three months at the time of his death and was decorated with a Purple Heart.
