George, who resided at 304 King Street, Wilmington, Delaware, served as a Corporal and tank gunner with Company F, 32nd Armored Regiment, Third Armored Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He enlisted in the Army on May 21, 1942 at Fort Dix, New Jersey. He noted that he was residing in New Castle County, Delaware at the time of his enlistment. It is unknown why his tombstone notes "New Jersey".

He was "Killed In Action" in Belgium during the war.

He had served in the Army for two years and seven months at the time of his death and was decorated with th Croix de Guerre, Bronze Star, and Purple Heart.
