Son of Adam and Louisa Tikoruski Boettcher. Herman married Mary Jane Ferguson in Rock Island County, Illinois on December 1, 1887. After the death of his wife, Herman married again to Mrs. Nellie Sampson in Scott County, Iowa on Dec. 9, 1908.

Herman Boettcher, 83, of 716 West Ninth street, died at 2:50 a.m. Monday in Mercy hospital following a week's illness.

A native of Germany, Mr. Boettcher was born in Deutsch, Eulau, West Prussia, Dec. 2, 1866, son of the late Adam and Louisa Boettcher. He came to this country with his mother in 1872 and had since resided in Davenport. He was married to Nellie Sampson who died 20 years ago.

For a number of years, Mr. Boettcher was a driver on the horse drawn streetcars here, and later was one of the first motormen to operate the electric streetcars in Davenport. In more recent years he had been employed at the Red Jacket Pump Co., before retiring several years ago. He was a member of the FOE No. 235 of Davenport.

Surviving are a son, Louis, Miami, Fla.; two daughters, Mrs. Etta Carrion, Burbank, Calif., and Mrs. Elsie Higgins, St. Louis, Mo.; three sisters, Mrs. Frieda LeClaire, Mrs. Bertha Hartman and Miss Tillie Boettcher, all of Davenport, and a brother, Charles, Davenport. A brother and a sister preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Runge chapel followed by burial in Oakdale cemetery.
