Son of Adam and Louisa Tikoruski Boettcher. Charles married Hilda Schield in Davenport, Iowa on May 8, 1900; divorced September 1924. To this union were born two children, Frederick W. (1901-1978) and Florence (1908-1974). His second marriage was to Emily T. Knoblauch, 1925 in Pekin, Illinois.

Services for Charles Boettcher, 91, of 1753 W. 16th St., Davenport, a former Davenport police chief, will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Runge Chapel, with Fraternal Lodge 221, AF & AM, conducting services there and at the graveside in Oakdale Cemetery.

Visitation is at the mortuary.

Mr. Boettcher died Sunday afternoon in Mercer Hospital after a two-year illness.

Mr. Boettcher, who was born in Davenport, joined the police force in 1902. He was promoted to plain clothesman in 1910 and named chief in 1914.

After retiring from the department in the late 1920's he was with the Ordinance Steel Co., Davenport, and later was a guard with the J.I. Case Co., Bettendorf, until 1953.

Mr. Boettcher married Emily Knoblauch in 1925 in Pekin, Ill.

Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Wayne (Florence) King, Rock Island; a son, Fred. W., San Diego, Calif.; two grandchildren, and a sister, Miss Tillie Boettcher, Davenport, who formerly was a police matron.
